Share your views about sports and adventure you can find in ...

Question by luc: Share your views about sports and adventure you can find in Australia!
I am working on a project to promote sports and adventure you can find in Australia.

Have you experienced whitewater rafting, scuba diving or other sports in Australia? How did you feel about them?

Are they any other sports and adventure you would like to experience?

It would be better if you could include your age, name and your nationality. No obligation of course. But nationality and age is most important.

Thanks!

I haven?t done any of the sports you have mentioned but I have heard a lot of people love to do whitewater rafting. I will definately do that one day. And jet boating is definately fun! A friend does skydiving and loves that? maybe one day I?ll try it but not just yet! Motorsports are big in Australia? is that counted? Something like the Targa Tasmania is great to watch as there are all types of cars so it suits everyone.

But you should promote Downhill Mountain Biking! My hubby does this and it is sadly under-appreciated by many Australians ? especially the media.

The Australian riders (Sam Hill, Jared Graves, Chris Kovarik, Jared Rando, Nathan Rennie, just to name a few) are LITERALLY the best in the world. For example, Sam Hill on numberous occasions has won by a matter of seconds ? not 10ths and 100ths of a second (which is what generally separates the top riders). I mean that is just awesome? and where is the recognition? Unless you are involved in the sport you wouldn?t know. Such a waste. Even Jared Graves has gone to the olympics as our BMX rider (and he is technically a downhill rider!) He even won heats against bmx riders from the rest of the world. Yet we only hear about people like Cadel Evans (who is great? don?t get me wrong ? but he hasn?t even won the tour de france yet and he has so much media coverage.)

Ok, I?ll get off my soap box ? but this is a great (extreme) sport that takes a lot of skill and precision and surprisingly a lot of fittness ? and it is great for the spectators too ? seeing them weave through the trees and over jumps, etc. You should check into it. Lots of fun ? even I have given it a go at the Thredbo track? but I might just stick to cross country riding? it is sooooo much easier, even if you do have to ride uphill!

For your records, my name is Emily and I am 23 and Australian. (My hubby ? who would also promote the sport ? is 25 and also very much Australian!)
