Gay war veteran on trial for White House protest (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Testimony is continuing in the federal trial of an Iraq war veteran arrested outside the White House last year during a protest of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays in the military.

Dan Choi is a former Army lieutenant who was discharged from the military for being gay. He is charged with disobeying police orders to leave an area in front of the White House after handcuffing himself to a fence last November.

Choi, who is scheduled to testify this week, says he's being treated differently because of his activism for gay rights. Prosecutors say that's not true.

James Pietroangelo, a former Army captain who was discharged after revealing that he's gay, testified Tuesday that other activists looked to Choi as a leader.
