A central Indiana high school football player is back home a week after suffering severe internal injuries during a game.
Fifteen-year-old Steven Bailey of Edinburgh says doctors told him he will be on bed rest for weeks and must avoid any strenuous activity for at least six months. He spent a week at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis being treated for a ruptured spleen, lacerated kidney and punctured lung.
Bailey was hurt when he was tackled while returning a kickoff against Indianapolis Manual on Aug. 23.
He tells the Daily Journal he's disappointed that he'll not be able to run track next spring but expects to be at football games this fall and rejoin the team next year.
