My definition for industrial engineering is "Industrial engineering is human effort engineering and system efficiency engineering." I teach a course on Introduction to Industrial Engineering that elaborates this definition and provides a road map to IE students in their studies. I advocate that Industrial engineering is an important management discipline and all MBA courses should have a paper in Industrial engineering. Also I advocate "Sharpen the saw" - periodic revision of their course content for knowledge workers. I am preparing guidebooks for periodic revision of MBA course material.
