What: Conference, ?Future Trends: Opportunities for Collaboration in the Developmental Disabilities Community?

?Future Trends? will bring together some of the most innovative and knowledgeable people in Rhode Island to analyze pressing challenges related to changes in Medicaid at the federal and state level, to discuss the most effective solutions, and to initiate a sustained dialogue that will enable Rhode Island to prepare for positive change in serving the community of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The morning?s proceedings will include a keynote address by Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy, discussion of the Living RIte demonstration project, and a panel discussion with Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals Director Craig S. Stenning and representatives of several Rhode Island provider organizations.

Who: Six private, non-profit service providers are hosting the conference:
Community Living of Rhode Island, The Frank Olean Center, Gateways to Change, Seven Hills Rhode Island, United Cerebral Palsy of Rhode Island, and West Bay Residential Services, Inc.

Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy will deliver a keynote address, ?Equality of Healthcare,? and Connie Garner of United Cerebral Palsy will provide an address, ?Emerging Trends in Medicaid.? Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed, First Lady Stephanie Danforth Chafee, Speaker of the House Gordon D. Fox, and Secretary of Health and Human Services Steven M. Costantino are among confirmed special guests.
